I originally planned to color everything the flashlight lit up their regular colors, but that put the panels with Cass and Noah in full color and it was such a prominent feature on the page that the eyes jumped right to those panels, skipping over the top half and killing the tension and punchline. So everything is just in a stark cool light. I had to talk myself out of feeling like it was a cop-out. But I do like that this parallels the monochromatic style I used for “Terror of the Jackal,” UTC’s only other flirtation with the horror genre.
