CLXXX: The Attic is Authoritative
This conversation was written for an entirely different story that focused more on Noah, before the Flint story was devised. The half-formed Noah story was integrated into this chapter as a B-plot to help fill in the holes of Flint’s A-plot.
This scene is important not only to progress Noah’s character arc, but to establish for readers why the super-powered machine that was the crux of Phase One was not being brought out to deal with all the problems that are coming up in Phase Two. I had planned to show the gun’s confiscation much earlier in Phase Two, but couldn’t work it into any of the stories.
