I designed the extra characters and their experiments with both the current predicament in mind as well as possible future expansion. They may or may not make more significant appearances later in the series.

To make the punchline work, I ended the strip with a double-sized panel that showed off Demetrius’ entire booth. Breaking the panel boundaries in this way further pushed me toward adopting a full-page format.
