We’re currently at the midpoint of Chapter 11. So far, I’ve released 12 pages over the course of 13 months. I know that hasn’t been an acceptable rate to a lot of you readers, but the unfortunate truth is that it’s the best rate I’ve been able to muster. I tried to get a twice-monthly schedule going to build momentum. With spring in full bloom, I’m going to try that again, but as before I am not going to guarantee that will stick.
Some have asked me why I don’t simply wait until all the pages are finished before releasing the whole chapter. I think that would be counter-intuitive to my work process, which is extremely slow but steady. Getting feedback from you after posting individual pages has helped me in many ways, not the least of which is knowing I still have your support.
That is especially important for this particular chapter, which has been undeniably the most difficult of them all to write and draw. Juggling over a dozen characters in an action scene is a crazy exercise in storytelling. The Marvel and DC guys have that down to a science, but I do not. To be honest, I know you are all itching to see how this story ends, but nobody–nobody–wants this chapter to reach its conclusion more than I do.
As always, thank you for your continued support, all of you wonderful readers, and of course those of you who have given support through Patreon and donations.
This is going to take however long it takes, but it will get done. That I can guarantee.
It figures that when I start announcing update dates ahead of time, things immediately go off-schedule. I will not be making these sorts of announcements a regular thing after all.
The next page will be up before the end of the month, but it will definitely not be Sunday as originally planned. Sorry for getting everyone’s hopes up. The comic will continue on a twice-per-month schedule but it could be any two days during the month, not necessarily evenly paced. I’m dead-set on finishing “Class Warfare.”
Page 225 of UTC will be posted this Sunday. I’m not sure if Sundays are going to become the default days for updates. I’m just trying to post pages as they’re getting done and right now the best time to work on them is the later half of the week.
See you then!
Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you don’t need me to tell you that 2016 was a rough year. I hope you all fared it well. UTC obviously suffered, but it’s finally beginning to pick back up.
Right now I’m targeting a minimum of two updates per month. I’m already well into work on Page 223 and it will be up before Christmas. I’m going to hold to that pace for the beginning of 2017, and if there are opportunities to make extra pages to get the series back to a once-per-week schedule, I’m going to take them. My first priority after new pages is to finish the extra content for the long, LONG overdue Phase Two graphic novel.
That’s everything for now. I wish you have a great holiday season and a happy new year!
I’m pleased to announce that UTC is officially rolling again! I’ll post a revised Page 217 on Saturday. Updates will not be on a set schedule for the time being, but you will be seeing more pages over the coming weeks.
And with this update comes the relaunch of the Patreon campaign! That will also be coming on Saturday. Patrons who did not cancel their pledges before the suspension of the campaign last year will need to login to Patreon and modify/remove their pledge if they so wish. I’ll of course be notifying everyone this concerns directly on the day of the relaunch.
More news to come! See you Saturday.
