Chapter 5: I, Abomination

It took me a while to come up with the cover to this chapter. At some point the image of Cass posing as Leonardo da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man” popped into my head and I ran with it.

This is the first chapter of Phase Two, picking up the story only four days after the events of Chapter 4, but it was nearly two years in real time since the last page of Phase One had been posted on-line. During the hiatus I focused on my full-time job and struggled with various art projects. I didn’t want to restart UTC until I was sure I could make pages on a consistent schedule and had a definite plan for this part of the series. Finally, in November of 2011, I had a script ready to go and more confidence in my art, and the series was back on its feet (“hooves”?).

During the 23-month hiatus, many fans contacted me about when the series would resume. They were all very gracious, and the knowledge that there were people out there who were eager to read more stories helped me through some rough spots.

The “#350” after my signature was a little boast I included to commemorate this as the 350th printed comic I had produced in my lifetime.
